John Dodwell

John built Hope and Resilience Counselling on the foundations that, despite our struggles, there is always hope and that circumstances can improve.

He also believes that human beings are more resilient than they realise.

It is often through talking with someone, in a private and safe space, that the journey to greater emotional and mental well-being can begin.

As a counsellor John provides a safe space for connecting, talking, listening, reflecting, working out ways forward and unlocking resilience and hope, giving you validation and respect in a non-judgemenal environment.

John gives you the tools and show you how to use them, to make positive change in your life.

The areas of counselling I specialise in are anxiety, depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, self-esteem and stress. These are experiences that can affect any person, at any stage of his or her life.

The role of the counsellor is to help the client explore what is going on, as well as why and what can be done to bring about positive change along with life-nurturing outcomes.

ADOLESCENT COUNSELLING

Counselling for young people from age 12 upwards

ANGER MANAGEMENT

There is nothing wrong with feeling angry.  It's all about how we deal with that anger.

ANXIETY

What is it we are afraid of?  Is life throwing up challenges we don’t feel we have the resources to cope with?

DEPRESSION

Where do those dark thoughts come from?

GRIEF

Dealing with loss - it may be the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, the loss of our health.  We can grieve when a pet passes away.

WORKPLACE STRESS

It seems we are increasingly expected to do more with less.  How do we work out what's important and what's not?  What's realistic and what's not?
